High-Pressure Cleaning Adapter Manifold
Many machine coolants have a tendency to coat the sensor prism of a refractometer. These coolants may also contain air bubbles, sediments, and tramp oil contaminants that may be of equal concern. These coatings and contaminants can produce misleading readings from the instrument. The High-Pressure Cleaning Adapter Manifold (Part Number A-2499) was developed to deal with problems associated with machine coolant applications. The High-Pressure Cleaning Adapter Manifold incorporates a high-pressure adapter, which is used to provide a constant cleaning jet of machine coolant liquid directed at the sensor prism.
The machine coolant to be monitored comes first into the de-gassing chamber (see photo, right). The de-gassing chamber removes air bubbles and sediments from the machine coolant. A needle valve in the top of the de-gassing chamber is used to route the air bubbles back into the line around the PR-111 sensor. Another needle valve, mounted on the bottom of the de-gassing chamber, is used to divert accumulated sediments or fine particles suspended in the fluid, drawing these contaminants off the bottom of the chamber. Other needle valves are used to control the amount of pressure in the high-pressure feed line, which must maintain a pressure level 30 psi or higher than that of the coolant line passing over the sensor in order to be effective. Pressure gauges are provided to read the pressure in each line, and the needle valves can be adjusted accordingly.
The High-Pressure Adapter Manifold (Part Number A-2499) is priced at $579.00. It can be configured without the de-gassing chamber (for applications where sediments and air bubbles are not present Part Number A-2500), priced at $415.00.
